Our Story

CyberDrain’s journey began in 2005 when founder Kelvin Tegelaar started what would become much more than a hobby project. What started as a simple IT-Pro blog has evolved into a thriving community-driven SaaS company that challenges the very foundations of how the MSP industry operates.

From Blog to Movement

The CyberDrain.com tech blog now receives over 4,000 daily unique visitors, but our impact extends far beyond page views. Kelvin’s 15-year tenure as CTO of Lime Networks provided him with unique insights into the inner workings of the MSP industry, exposing the stark realities and often-overlooked gaps in genuine transparency and ethical conduct.

Community-Driven Innovation

In 2021, we launched our first CyberDrain Capture The Flag event with 250 active participants - it sold out in 24 hours. Each subsequent event has grown to accommodate up to 1,000 users, consistently selling out and demonstrating the hunger for authentic, community-focused initiatives in our industry.

Spite-Driven Development

Our flagship product, CIPP (CyberDrain Improved Partner Portal), was born from what we affectionately call “Spite Driven Development.” It was a direct response to the industry’s shortcomings - a tool crafted not merely to fill a gap in the market but to make a statement that it’s possible to build something valuable, ethical, and transparent.

We’ve witnessed the dissonance between what companies profess in their Mission, Vision, and Strategy statements and what they actually practice. At CyberDrain, we understand that companies cannot make changes - people can.
